An unbearably hot car interior can cause delays and even harm, which is why our Lima service center is here with some tips and tricks to consider as the temperature outside starts to rise.

Tips For Keeping Your Car Cool in the Summer

Park Smarter If You Can

It may seem obvious, but one of the best ways to keep your vehicle cool in the summer is to get an ideal parking situation. The reason why your vehicle's interior is so hot in the summer is the greenhouse effect: the sun's rays enter through the windows and heat is trapped inside, which leads to an incredibly hot (and potentially dangerous) interior.

If circumstances provide, park in a garage or in the shade, as these could mitigate that effect. Your car's exterior paint will also benefit from limited sun exposure, as UV rays and severe weather can damage the paint.

Use a Sunshade

By using a sunshade on your windshield, you can limit the amount of rays entering through your car windows. For even more protection, you can put a protective visor in the rear window and side windows.

Cover Up Interior Surfaces

Use towels and blankets to cover the steering wheel, gear shift and any other parts of the vehicle you're touching before they get the chance to cool down. Additionally, a dashboard cover could prevent vinyl from getting too hot.

Keep Your Windows Partially Open

While it may be a bit of a risk for security and unpredictable rain patterns, cracking your windows open slightly is a great way to increase airflow and prevent heat from building in your interior too much.

Use Remote Start

If your vehicle has the convenient feature, we highly recommend using remote engine start and turning the A/C on a few minutes before you go. After all, arguably the best way to deal with a scorching car interior is not having to get into one in the first place.
