Best Small Sedan
By Best of the Small Cars | on 4/7/2023 3:59:47 AM
I have a 2022 Accent which is no longer being sold in the US Market. I paid 19,300.00 for the vehicle brand new. My vehicle is the SEL version which I think is the best of the three and I easily get over 40 mph on the highway and about 33 in town. I have had it for a year and a half and it has been problem free so far. I don't get the no power knock on the Accent. It has more power and less noise than my 2008 Toyota Corolla that I had before I made the Accent purchase. This has been a great car so far. Sad to see small cars disappearing as if everyone has tens of thousands to spend on an SUV.… - 5.0

Beats EPA Estimates for MPG's
By My Brandon Mobile | on 7/15/2022 7:44:10 PM
I am a senior and this is a second car for me. It is brand new so I cannot speak to reliability etc. In mostly city driving I am averaging over 40 mpg, which for not being a hybrid is amazing. California's crazy high fuel prices necessitated this purchase as I am on a pension. Thank Brandon! I can say that for its price, it is very comfortable, reasonably quiet and has good ride comfort. What is called a basic car today was a luxury ride when I first bought a new car. No power accessories, no A/C and an AM radio only. The Accent's 7 inch infotainment is super easy to navigate and my phone connected quickly and voice quality and command recognition is very good. A/C blows very cold and strong, it gets well over 100F where I live. The engine idles very smoothly which was a nice surprise. Materials are hard plastic but look good and fit and finish is very good. Don't confuse lack of colors and soft touch surfaces with build quality. All panels and moldings are fitted well and there are no squeaks or rattles so far. The seat lacks long distance comfort but a padded seat cover helped that. I have the SEL trim. I researched heavily and this is the best value of the 3 trim levels. LED lighting is the rage but wait till you have to replace an entire assembly for $500 when one fails instead of just a bulb for $10 from O'Reilly's. The trunk is not rated high in space but the shape matters and the Accent's trunk has a great shape for luggage and takes a surprising amount plus my golf bag fits easily in the wide opening. In summary, you get real value in this vehicle especially when you factor in the warranty and maintenance. This is likely my last new car and I am fine with that. With age you learn less is more. A sub $200 monthly payment is the cherry on top. I considered a Nisan Leaf but I will probably croak before I hit break even on it compared to the Accent. Oh, almost forgot, the 6 speaker stereo in the SEL and up has surprisingly good fidelity to it and has a lot of adjustments in the head unit. Sirius XM sounds especially good due to signal quality. Nissan Versa SV was the competition for me. It had more safety tech but I know how to drive. The mileage was comparable and my son's Versa has been good so far at 53K miles but the CVT transmission is the unknown there. We had our's dealer serviced, they are the only ones that will do it, and it cost $600. So Nissan buyers beware you have that big service coming at you. The Accent uses a new Hyundai CVT design with a chain instead of metal belt. However, the Versa uses simpler port FI instead of the high pressure GDI that the Accent has. Early Hyundai GDI has leak and engine fire issues. Google it. But they have been building them for 10 years now so I keep my fingers crossed. The Sport mode in the Accent really does liven up the car in town but fuel economy will drop a few mpg's. Overall if you are an adult driver, seek high fuel economy and keep your vehicle a long time, the Accent is an excellent choice. Especially if you already have a larger vehicle for stuff and you like the style and driving characteristics of a sedan. The higher profile tires contribute a quieter and smoother ride and will be cheaper to replace! I hope my research and observations help.…
